Hello my name is Sandra Bøjen-Taylor, psychotherapist at Bcalm. After 13 years in the construction industry I was feeling unfulfilled and worn out. It was during self-awareness training offered by my company that I realised I needed to channel my skills elsewhere in a more positive process aligned with my own beliefs and desires. I left to have my first child in 2002 and never looked back, completing accredited counselling and psychotherapy courses of the highest calibre over a 5 year period in order to start practicing in the field. Over 16 years I have worked therapeutically with young people and adults at the Youth Service, for the mental health charity Mind, Grimsby & Cleethorpes IAPT Service Open Minds and as student and staff counsellor at a busy FE & HE College in Scunthorpe. I am currently a group therapist for Breast Cancer Care UK working with women with secondary breast cancer from the Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Scunthorpe, Hull and Lincoln areas and with private 1-1 clients. I am also registered with Trauma Aid UK – as a volunteer to provide therapeutic support to victims of terror attacks, atrocities and natural disasters. In 2011 I invested further in my work and completed a Masters Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy with Distinction. This equipped me with knowledge about current and cutting edge research in the field and enabled me to work with new concepts in my client work. I have a wealth of experience working with a diverse range of clients and issues. I will give you my time and care, reinforcing our working relationship with knowledge, integrity and compassion.
I have been a BACP Registered Counsellor since 2000. I practice Integrative Psychotherapy which means I am experienced in working with several approaches. In my case I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Narrative, Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt and Mindfulness theories. I am also a fully qualified EMDR therapist – an amazing and innovative therapy (the most thoroughly researched method used in the treatment of trauma) which has successfully helped millions of people with a wide range of mental health problems as well as PTSD. I aim to offer the therapy or combination of that is most appropriate for the needs of each client. I presently undertake private work from Keelby which is a 20 minute drive from Grimsby, 25 minutes from Cleethorpes, half an hour from Louth, Brigg, Hull and Beverley areas. It is a safe, calm, quiet place in a beautiful old house overlooking the village green.
I am fully insured and hold a current DBS Enhanced Certificate.
When I work I try to be real and spontaneous. I will work at a pace that is comfortable for you, but will offer reflections, insights or challenges to enable you to consider wider perspectives and ways forward. You will leave having explored and dealt with your issues fully and in depth, armed with tools aimed at supporting your ongoing process of maintaining wellbeing and fulfilment. My practice is built upon professionalism, experience, integrity, trust, warmth, compassion, knowledge, ongoing training in the field and the word of mouth and reviews of existing clients. I look forward to hearing from and working with you…
